Mission Discovery II:
A Volunteer Program for All

Beginning October 27th

Mission Discovery II is the continuation of our service opportunity which began Spring 2007. MDII is a wonderful vehicle for all of us to learn about the needs of our community and to engage in group volunteer service projects in response to those needs. The kickoff for this event will be Saturday, October 27th from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. During this time, we will do some team building exercises, learn about the importance of service in Christian faith, and select our volunteer projects.

Following the kick-off event, each team (of 6 to 8 people) will volunteer in the community, participating in 2 or 3 projects over a seven- or eight-week period. Each team will select its own series of projects. Some of the available projects are listed in this brochure. The projects come from all areas of service including: Health Care, Shelter, Education, Hunger Prevention, and the Environment.

What our volunteers are saying:

"As Christians we are called to reach out and share God's love with our community. Mission Discovery is a great opportunity for us to serve those in need right in our own backyard."

" I have always wanted to help others in my neighborhood but just didn't know how to get started. The Mission Discovery Program at College Park Presbyterian has provided me countless opportunities to reach out and serve others. I have found I can make a difference in my community."

About College Park Presbyterian Church

College Park Presbyterian Church is a diverse community of God's people. Our church is a family and we warmly welcome all God's children as our sisters and brothers. The primary purpose of College Park Presbyterian Church is to glorify God through our worship, service, education and mission. We seek to grow in our relationship with God and to grow in our relationships with one another.

We have worship services on Sunday in both English and Spanish. We also have Sunday School classes for all ages, several weekday prayer groups and Bible Studies, an Adult Lecture Series, and several ongoing community service projects. The church hosts weekly Spanish and English language classes for the community, along with many special events throughout the year, such as Fellowship Dinners, Vacation Bible School, Concerts on the Church grounds, and Mission Discovery.

Our congregation provides nurture, comfort and support for all of those in need. We dedicate our time, effort and talents to engage in significant hands-on ministry not only within our community but also to the far reaches of the world. Our members are dedicated volunteers and supporters of the Mission Discovery Program.
